So on our last night in Florence, Italy a few weeks back...Nick and his family arrived in town!!
Which was great because we managed to meet up for a few hours and enjoy a meal together.
Now, if you're not familiar with Florence you may consider skipping over it when you visit Italy next...and that would be a huge mistake!
The place is unreal.
The amount of history, art (and I don't like most art), and culture that is jammed into that city is absolutely mind blowing.
We met up at a little restaurant in the heart of town, that's a picture of us up top enjoying some incredible wine and steak.
Once you know how to avoid the "tourist traps" and hit the good places around town...everything changes. The food is magical.
One night we ate next to Galileo's house overlooking the Tuscan countryside, it was like living a dream, LOL!
For your viewing pleasure I've included a picture of the most important part of the meal (for me at least!)...
How is it possible for anyone to be served that piece of beautiful beef and not want to enjoy it?
After that meal with Nick, we walked over to a gelato shop that Carol's aunt used to go to as a kid.
She's 79 years old right now.
And she shared how fast life is flying by and how it felt like "just yesterday" that she was there with her friends as a kid growing up in Florence.
It's wild, life is both so fast and so slow.
Somehow a week can seem "slow and long" sometimes...but then a year can go by "in a flash".
Life is tricky that way.
But if you want to live life on your terms there's a pretty easy way to do it.
And we can predict almost anyone's future with this little exercise.
Write out the top areas of your life that are important to you, here's a sample list:
Family
Relationships
Finances
Health
Skills
Fun stuff
Travel
Next to each one write out how much you want to improve that area of your life by this time next year.
Would it be 5% better, 7%, 10%...maybe 1% a month better? That doesn't sound hard?
Let's go with an even number and say you'd like to improve one of the categories above by 10% a year.
That seems possible, no? That's less than 1% a month in improvement.
Well, if we compound 10% improvements over a few years...well, in 7 years you've doubled it.
Let's repeat this for emphasis...
If you improve any area of your life by 10% per year, less than 1% per month, you double it in 7 years.
So you can make your relationships, your fun, your finances, your travel, your health, your fitness, your anything 100% better than they are today by improving them by less than 1% a month.
Wild.
It's like a cheat code that so few use.
Forget doubling, you can TRIPLE any category in just a tad over 11 years with this.
Imagine your vacations in 11 years if you improve your life 10% a year for 11 years?
Imagine your skill level in ANYTHING if you improve it 10% per year, every year. Again, that's less than a 1% improvement a month.
Can you get better at that rate?
Take a look at this chart...
Look at how long it takes to double anything if you compound it with 1% annual improvements.
That's how most people live.
Now look at 10%.
Life compounds fast and time goes by fast...but it's also slow enough that you can make 10% changes in a single year.
And when you do, bam, one day you wake up in a totally different reality.
We noticed that with our lives.
We can predict anyone's future by asking them what they're doing to improve anything that's important to them.
If the answer is "not much" we know that in ten years their life is going to look a lot like today.
But if they're reading, researching, practicing, networking, hustling...even a little bit, but doing it consistently...we can take an educated guess at where they'll be in ten years.
Let us ask you this..
How old are you right now?
Where do you want to be in 10 years?
What three little things can you do to improve some aspect of your life by 1% a month?
Compounding and consistency are the keys to unlocking your freedom.
Write out your list and write out the things you can do to improve each category by that tiny amount...
...then let compounding and consistency carry you forward.
See you on the other side.
