Message from Tom and Nick
So 15 of us got trapped in the Eataly elevator last week.
A big group of us went out for dinner in the downtown Eataly location last Sunday and jumped in the elevator together to leave.
It dropped about 12" and then just stopped working.
And within minutes it somehow started getting very hot.
Not nice and not fun, LOL!
After the security guard proved to be fairly useless sending us messages on his phone display, we took matters into our own hands and called Toronto Fire.
And Toronto Fire came through. They arrived in about 3 minutes, managed to get the outside door open quickly and slid a little tool through the crack between the doors to help release the inside doors.
That's me, standing on Nick's back, listening to their directions and trying to release the doors from the inside.
It took about 5 minutes of jumbling around, but we ultimately got it open and all jumped out faster than I've ever seen us move!
Wouldn't recommend that experience but looking back it was like a real life escape room, LOL!
That little tool really saved us. We were sticking our hands and fingers up above the doors into a little gap and it honestly felt a little like we may lose a finger or two in the process.
The fire fighter's metal tool changed the game.
One piece of thick steel wire, bent a certain way, freed us.
It was like getting a "hint" in an escape room...game changing.
And I feel like that's what life can be like.
Sometimes all you need to take your life to the next level is one little hint from someone who's been where you want to go.
I think that's why we enjoy putting on the Your Life. Your Terms. Events as much as we do.

I'll never forget the time I was personally struggling with a limiting belief in our business.
One business owner in Baltimore, where we were attending an event, pulled my arm and plainly laid out how they were succeeding and how I could too.
That one-minute talk released a limiting belief I had been holding onto for months.
It set both myself and Nick on fire...we got back to Toronto and ramped up what we were doing to the next level.
Another time we couldn't really figure out a real estate strategy.
We had already done rentals, student rentals, and flipped properties but we were struggling with a "rent-to-own" strategy. It just didn't seem to work.
Then, at an event we were at, we had one guy break down what we were doing wrong in about 30 seconds and then we went on to do over 2,000 rent-to-owns!! It was crazy!
Sometimes it's one tool, one tip, one tug of the arm that can release you to the next level of life.
All of this is why we're so pumped about the YLYT Event on Saturday, Oct 17, 2026.
